Just as the new moon
holds the old moon in her arms,
so may my head rest gently
in my heart’s waiting embrace,
and may I respond
with care from there.

A double blessing,
sunshine with a dash of cold,
warms the heart and clears
the mind, readies us for what’s
ahead as the week unwinds.
JDG
I’ll take my cue from those few grazing deer
and ease my way
into this
sun-lit
day.
I’ll
leave rush
and scurry
for another
place and time and seek peace this Sabbath day.
JDG
When “at least it’s not
something worse” is what you say
several times every
day, you also know things could
be a whole lot better too.
JDG
Unfortunately
I’ve taught them all too well so
when I tore open
that double bag all wrong and
sent cheese shreds sailing
onto the floor, they did not
hesitate. “They just
don’t make those bags like they used
to, Gaba. It’s all their fault.”
JDG
There’s no notion here
that Gaba always knows what’s
best. My grandkids have
made that clear. Still, sometimes when
the stars align, they
will find a nugget or two
they can pay attention to.
JDG
Silence slowly waters my thirsty soul,
brings renewal
to spirit
and to
my
heart’s
body,
sweet release.
I give myself
over to stillness and soak in deep peace.
JDG
Even at this late date
that red cedar has put out new green.
While some branches sport blue berries,
others are stripped nearly bare.
One tree, ever-green, holds with grace
fresh starts, full fruit and an openness to letting go.
JDG
From a gray washed sky
a light mist falls, dampening
the day. Those cawing
crows must think if they call loud
enough, they’ll rally the sun.
JDG
How do I love me? Let me count the ways.
Hmm…it seems I have a ways to go…
so…
I’ll jump right in and begin
by learning first to just say “no”.
and then, perhaps, I’ll find a way
to just say “yes” … to me.
