Just yesterday
I was a teenager
who knew so much,
having to deal with
ancient folks who thought
they knew so much more.
Now I am an ancient one
who knows so much,
having to deal with
teenagers who think
they know so much more.

Day fifty-five and
I’m feeling alive. It’s so
great to move and not shake.
JDG
Sometimes if I speak
my thoughts out loud and listen,
I really have to
shake my head in wonderment
at the places thoughts can take me.

(With apologies to Dr. Seuss)
When I don’t feel like
doing my routine, I look
back and ahead and begin.
JDG
When stopped may I not
narrow my vision, waiting
only to go once more.
JDG
Kept my commitment
to myself and though it’s late
I exercised anyway.
JDG
My is is not your
is, My was was not your was.
Knowing that, how can
we together agree
on what could, should, and will be?
Unremarkable
workout except for the fact
that I am still doing it.

Some trees put out a
few gold leaves to tentatively
test the autumn air.
JDG
I never thought I’d
see the day when I stuck to
any exercise
routine this long, but I have
and, in truth, it’s not been bad.
