Today I added
a bit of balancing to
my exercise routine and,
much to my surprise,
I found I didn’t mind.
It felt complete.

As trees quench their thirst
with November rain, I drink
in their Autumn sheen.
JDG
Realizing I’m unsteady
on my feet,
I’m adding balance exercises
to my beat.

When our leaders send
soft words, but refuse to take
hard actions, when they
put personal profit first
and public interest
last, the best we can hope for
is trickle-down kindness.

It looked like the fog had won,
wrapping us in shrouds
of confusing grey,
but farther down the road,
though the day was overcast,
the fiery truth stood firm and true.

When I first started,
day ninety seemed so far away
and now it and I are here.
Before I look at what’s to come,
I’ll pause, take a breath, and simply say,
” Well done, Self, well done.”

and it’s been quite
a climb, but I’m close to
my goal and glad I stayed with it.
