Note To Self

Don’t let those small drops

of rain ruin a day filled

with bursts of sunshine.

Learning Curve

It’s often the course

I didn’t choose that taught me

far more than I sought.

Seeing With Soft Eyes

When someone sees the need

concealed beneath

carefully crafted cloaks of competence

and extends a gentle hand,

we are left feeling larger, not smaller,

and possibilities are expanded, not shrunk.

When Cleverness Pulls

When cleverness pulls us toward unkindness

let’s privately

acknowledge

the wit,

then

shift

to that

within us

which enjoys the

tenderness of connection more than wit.

Gift of Grey

Sun’s gone; rain’s come –

a muted day unfolds,

bringing needed relief

from too much light and heat.

Decisive Not Devisive

I grabbed a ride

on that bird’s lilting song

and left my suitcase of blame behind –

a momentary decision

to make music instead of complaints.
