slowly approaches,
the setting sun
leaves a parting kiss
causing the sky to blush.

I’ve enrolled in
the School of Soft Knox
so when I stepped outside,
and saw a gray day, I listened.
Knox gave me a tug, told me
not to dismay, we didn’t
need sun to walk and play
JDG
One thousand and one games of tug of war,
an equal number of fetch the ball
and I bet you’ll never guess
who grew tired first.
Knox or me?

After a rain-filled
morning, the sun shyly creeps
from beyond the clouds
and seeing the maple trees
glow, claims his place in the sky.

We drivers create
quite a stir
among the fallen leaves.
They’re moved to
rise again and dance.

As Autumn’s golden
light filters through the changing
leaves, I pause and ask,
” Is any light filtering
through a changed and changing me.”

Like a river
deals with a rock,
I’m learning
to deal with
obstacles.
The river doesn’t
protest
the presence
of a rock,
nor does it let it
stop its flow.
It works with
and around
what is there.

The dreary weather
has gotten
to the birds.
They’re squabbling over
Invisible seed.

A yellow leaf drifts
slowly to the ground
as a mourning dove
flies upward to the trees –
a moving passage.
