Knox Gives Me The Nod

I don’t know how,

but Knox always seems to know

when we’re headed

to the dog park.

His tail wags harder

as he prances to the car

and on the way

he sends me encouraging nods

and “Good Girl” glances.

Once there, he signals his approval

with a quick look back as he dashes off

to renew old acquaintances

and make new friends.

I wasn’t that hard to train after all.

Lyrical Sightings

The rushing stream sings

of all it has seen and all

it might see ahead.

The trees nearby join in. Though

rooted, they’ve seen plenty too.

After Christmas

The silence lingers

except for soft whisperings

suggesting secrets

carried on the shifting breeze.

The sun smiles knowingly.

2020

A quiet Christmas –

by late afternoon only

the wind could be heard.

Heartfelt

At double arms reach:

it’s how we’ll spend this Christmas

because we love each other.

Our hearts reach beyond

our arms and in our hearts we

will hold each other.

Knox Unleashed

Romping and rolling,

fetching and catching,

splashing and dashing –

free at last

at the dog park today!

Misplaced

She’s on the lookout

for her real self.

She cannot remember

when or where

she left it.
