When we hit a road block,
it can help to idle awhile
until we find the best way
to get to where we want to go.

Freshly mowed grass
receives slowly rising sun
with a sparkling smile.

A sudden burst of
energy as I move to
music from my youth.
I find I can dance and play
in a graceful, ageless way.

Evening arrives with
the deer reclaiming the yard
as their own, grazing,
relaxed but vigilant, as
we, too, wait for night to fall.

before we begin,
we probably won’t start.
Why not begin somewhere
between possibility and perfection ?

Sami made is broken,
but even if it can’t be fixed,
I’ll keep it because
it still holds pencils and memories.

socks, a brilliant idea
came to me, but by
the time I stood up, it must
have decided to stand down.

branches of a nearby tree,
birds gather to dine,
undaunted by squirrels or
lightly falling August rain.
