A beautiful, warm day, sunny and bright
at the end of
December?
Winter
weeps.

The
swinging
pendulum,
the rhythm of
passing moments, the oh-so fleeting now.

May I see delight. May I see de light?
Unintended
word play brings
forth a
grin.

A vibrant assortment of butterflies
flit and flirt in
shimmering
summer

I have met the enemy and, indeed,
the enemy
is me. I
asked if
she
could
spare a
moment for
us to sit and
chat. She looked me in the eye and said, “A
moment? This’ll
take way more
time than
that.”

On the seventh day I discover there’s
poetry in
practice as
well as
grit.

It’s
easy
to be stopped
by magnitude
unless we first adjust our attitude.

As
I sit
among these
trees, listening
to the wind, I see how it affects each
trunk, each branch, each leaf differently and sense
there’s a teaching
here in wind’s
way with
trees.

Darn, darn, darn, darn, darn.
Darn, darn, darn, darn, darn, darn, darn,
darn, and double darn.
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

Too cold to stay outside for long.
Too boring just
to watch t.v.
Picking on each
other is ok for a time
til someone goes
a bit too far.
Then the loud calls
for me to referee begin.
Kids and snow – one
or the other
just has to go.

Even amidst the early morning haze,
those golden blooms
light my way,
bring me
home.
From
that place
I start my
day, knowing I’ll
find a way to be with whatever comes.
