Maybe it shouldn’t 

matter, but first impressions

often really do.

Is there an upside

to this downside? Years later

my father’s words come

back to me, “We’ll see.” For now,

I’ll try to wait patiently.

When emotion takes over and colors

everything, there’s

still one more

thing I

can

do.

I can

pause and write

a poem or two

’til I can come back to myself and you.

~~~~

I see the upside now

It’s in this unexpected

burst of creativity.
