We’re here right now in this present moment
a small fraction
of the time.
The rest
of
the
time, we’re
adrift in
thoughts and feelings
that take us to non-existent places.

When discomfort grows, why keep walking in
tired old shoes
on paths so
over
trod?

There’s a light glowing in each one of us
even on dark
days and nights.
Be still.
Look.

Birds, bees, and butterflies flit here and there,
reminding us
of how we
used to
be.

window, pretend

and can
fly.

when we can once
acknowledge
we’ve been
lost.

I toss this poem into the ocean
of written words
and hope it
doesn’t
sink.

Across the sun-swept hills, a small bird flies
seeking something
beyond as
we do
too.

Love in the time of coronavirus –
elbow bumping,
hand washing,
paid time
off.
JDG
Green buds of hope burst forth, bringing promise
of renewal
even on
these bleak
days.
