The irises wave
hello to the rain, The day’s
off to a good start.
Knox hesitates at the door.
A good start? He’s not so sure.

Though I sometimes feel
separate and alone, it just
takes a furry paw
rubbing against my leg to
show me my misconception.

Watching Knox survey
his kingdom as he slowly
strolls through grass covered
with morning dew, I give thanks
for this place we both call home.

Two cardinals, one bright
red, the other a bit dull,
fly to the bird feeder
where they find a morsel of food
and a bit of romance.

There’s no need to read
between the lines. Knox does not
hesitate. He tells
it straight and is dismayed when
I understand but say no.

Saturday at last
but why did I think I could
linger in bed, start
the day slow when cats and Knox
clearly had another plan?
JDG
Come, Wind of Reason,

castle of doubt I have built.

Early morning fog,
both inner and outer, makes
day’s start much harder,
but with time and persistence,
clearing eventually comes.
JDG
If only I could
pull a switch and find instant
transformation, but
sadly I have to first note
the need and then switch within.
JDG
Someplace within me
there’s peace and understanding,
but sometimes I must
open Anger’s tightly closed
door and walk through to find it.
