Traveling lightly
and oh so slow, those soft clouds
ease across the sky.
May we take their wisdom down
to earth and bring heaven nigh.

happens, the sun still rises
and sets, the roots still
grow beneath our grounded feet
and our hearts still keep their beat.

A slowly changing
quality of light – not yet
bright, but brighter than
before – leaves us hoping for
even brighter tomorrows.

catches the same fish every
time so I’m going
to set it aside and see
what a brand new net can do.

and night draws ever closer,
I survey the day’s
small satisfactions, grateful
for the peace that small can bring.

you’re looking for, it’s a rare
find indeed to glimpse
it lying there within your
wildly floundering self.

Sunday’s morning sky
is full of soaring things – bees,
birds, and butterflies,
tethered kites, escaped balloons,
wee white petals, whispered prayers.

As buttercups surf
the undulating hills of
green, they wave, calling
golden shouts of gratitude
to the wind, the land, the sun.

Opening her hands,
she showed me the pink petals
she and her sister
gathered on their walk – a gift,
she said, from wind in the trees.
