Small And Sweet

Curiosity

gave a fast tug, but respect

held its solid ground –

such a small victory, but

 a satisfaction so sweet.

As Above

Traveling lightly

and oh so slow, those soft clouds

ease across the sky.

May we take their wisdom down

to earth and bring heaven nigh.

When Nothing Happens

On days when nothing

happens, the sun still rises

and sets, the roots still

 grow beneath our grounded feet

and our hearts still keep their beat.

Light Suggestion

A slowly changing

quality of light – not yet

bright, but brighter than

before – leaves us hoping for

even brighter tomorrows.

Fresh Catch

That old story line

catches the same fish every

time so I’m going

to set it aside and see

what a brand new net can do.

Largess

As evening settles

and night draws ever closer,

I survey the day’s

small satisfactions, grateful

for the peace that small can bring.

A Rare Find

When you don’t know what

you’re looking for, it’s a rare

find indeed to glimpse

it lying there within your

wildly floundering self.

Sunday’s Sky

Sunday’s morning sky

is full of soaring things – bees,

birds, and butterflies,

tethered kites, escaped balloons,

wee white petals, whispered prayers.

Riding The Waves

As buttercups surf

the undulating hills of

green, they wave, calling

golden shouts of gratitude

to the wind, the land, the sun.

Walk With The Wind

Opening her hands,

she showed me the pink petals

she and her sister

gathered on their walk – a gift,

she said, from wind in the trees.
