Morning light dancing
beneath sun-struck trees
on a day not warm
and not yet cold – the promise
of autumn is in the air.

A tiny add-on
today to strengthen muscles
in my legs, but it’s
ok – or at least not bad,
as such exercise plans go.
JDG
It’s been thirty days
and I’m still going strong – well,
not exactly strong,
but I’m still going, and for
me that means I’ve really scored.

Seeing my distress,
she offered me a special
blend her sister taught
her how to make – hot tea and
sympathy, comfort and warmth.

As usual I
worked up a bit of a sweat
even though I was
exercising sitting in
a chair. Still, it was no sweat.

Today I think I’m
a crazy stiff to even
try to loosen up
these old bones and tight muscles,
but stiff or not, I persist.

Seven friends and I,
all over seventy, met
for joy and learned once
more the foundation of joy
is built with hearts’ connections.

Another day when
it would be easy to just
forget exercise
when there were lots of demands
on my time, but I didn’t.
JDG
Is it possible
to find refuge in practice
of a physical
kind? Perhaps it is but it’s
really clear, I’m not there yet.
Every now and then
tragedy opens a door
to positive change.
Let’s not pause at the threshold.
Let’s with surety step through.
