When those furry interlopers appear,
Knox’s purpose in life becomes clear
and he hits the ground running.
The birds at the feeder
cheerily chirp their approval.
They now know
they’ll have more to eat.

That wind is causing
quite an uproar among the trees,

of culture and species so
our hearts can join together.

These housemates of mine
don’t need words. Their eyes, their barks,
their yips and meows, their purrs
and hisses, their moans and nudges,
their sighs and snuggles
speak clearly without a syllable spoken.
They listen to my words, but
they’re not really needed.
They get me completely without them.

joy with barks and a wiggle
