I lost my bearings
and that was the first step
toward finding myself.

Pink tinged morning sky,
small yellow and blue blossoms –
the day’s off to a colorful start.

When a smile comes,
pause, inhale fully, exhale
joy into the world.
Natural remedies like these

call me Crazy Dandelion Lady
because those golden nourishers
of bees have been encouraged
to linger on my land. It seems
I’ve made a name for myself
and I couldn’t be more proud.

to answer nature’s call, but
the call, I soon discovered,
was the lure of squirrels and sticks.

It can seem like
I
live on an island,
though not
one surrounded
by water.

Lying alone in the shadowless dark,
I hear the whistle of a distant train.
Transported to another time,
I linger for a while before
the train and I slip away.

Knox does not waste his
time worrying if there will
be a shortage of
squirrels and sticks. Perhaps I can
learn from all he has to teach.

Seeking shelter from
the storm, I rush past smiling
dandelions. Once inside,
I’ll smile too, but for now
I just whisper thanks
for the reminder.

In
the old days
when I was young,
I climbed whatever tree
I could. Now, I peacefully
recline beneath any welcoming tree
I find.
