Feeling The Pull

I could see through

the sliding glass  door, but

there was much I could not hear:

birds singing, trains whistling,

dogs barking, gravel crunching,

woodpeckers pecking, children playing.

With one quick pull, I added

another dimension, but that was not

enough for Knox, who pulled me

out the door for a full-bodied experience,

one that included tossing sticks.

Don’t Wait

Nothing is certain.

Tomorrow may not come, but

we are here today.

Don’t wait to sing your own song.

Sing it with passion today.

A Slow Farewell

That tree has weathered

many a storm, but now it seems

it’s time to let go.

Leaf by leaf, branch by branch

it surrenders itself

to the earth from whence it came.

Here He Is Again

Sadness has a way

of sneaking in unannounced

and uninvited,

sometimes refusing to leave

even when politely asked.

It can be helpful then

to let him stay and mingle with

our other guests who may have

 heartwarming and interesting

stories to share.
