In his endless quest
for squirrels, Knox stumbled upon
a hive of bees
and quickly fled the scene.

I have a living alarm clock.
If the cats can’t rally me,

his face beamed,
and he said, “You’re absolutely right.
I’m so glad you’ve seen the light.”

and said she’d return when
I opened my eyes and wrote from my heart.

Among the many
flashes of dancing light stands
a small child whispering,
“Look, the stars are falling.”
