Just across the road
Pax, a dog, has come to live.
Knox is pleased to have met at last
a fellow lover of big sticks.
He’s tried for years to show me how
to snatch them up and run around,
but now he’s found a just right pal
and can let things rest with this old gal.

The pink impatiens
couldn’t bear to stop blooming.
After a brief pause,
knowing they’d have to hurry,
they left us a parting gift.

No seed is left behind.
My parents must have reminded
the squirrels and birds
about all those starving squirrels
and birds in China.

On that Autumn day,
the chilly air and the sun
weren’t on speaking terms.
No matter how hard they tried
they couldn’t bridge the divide.

If only I had
a GPS for my mind,
perhaps I could stay on track.

He began to dance
and invited me to join,
but I only dance
with those whose hearts have proven
to be thoughtful, kind, and true.

Sun and rain agreed
to join each other for some
early morning play.

Every night the trees
frantically sway in the wind
as lightening flashes
and water pours from the sky.
We’d welcome a change of scene.

Whatever the weather,
those pink inpatiens
insist on bringing
a joyful abundance
of boisterous blooms.

The clouds aren’t smiling
this morning, but also they
are not shedding tears.
It looks like it’s going to
be a real blah kind of day.
