Late evening, headed west
toward the bright magenta sky.
Red sky at night is
not only a sailor’s delight,
but also mine.

The saga unfolds
in the life of playboy dog Knox.
He met Lolly at the dog park,
and Molly eagerly awaits
his return home.

watching as the grandkids leave.
Slowly he turns, goes

Watching the rain fall,
my mind goes to childhood
wonderings about
who turned on the giant hose
and sprinkler in the sky.

and nurtured each other over many years,
value modern technology and cherish
the old-fashioned, slow interweaving
of their lives and hearts.

Wrapped in the warmth of
friendship, we cooly discuss
our mortality.
