The sun sings bright notes
and is joined by the moon in
a duet of opposites.

Today there was a bite in the air,
well, more like a nibble,
but I am so grateful
I won’t quibble.
JDG
Just when I thought
we were stepping in harmony,
a squirrel scampered by
and my thoughts and I
were left in the dust.
JDG
Just for a moment
the slowly moving clouds blushed
pink at night’s approach.

I don’t know if Knox
grows worried every time
I sit, eyes closed, and meditate,
but he does come over,
gives me a nudge, some licks,
and if all else fails,
drops toys at my feet.
JDG
Foggy beginning
but a clear, sunny ending
to a slow paced day.
JDG
Every night Knox goes
to the sliding glass door, spots
the same old dog who
grows and changes just as he
does, barks and invites him in.
JDG
In this uncertain time
between what was and what will be,
emotions of a darker kind
spread like the virus that brought us here.
Faith, hope, and love are tested,
but they’re what we need to see us through.
JDG
I sit and watch as
the candle flickers and burns,
the wax and the day’s
tension slowly melting. I
only had to strike the match.
JDG
Sophira the cat
approached me for a pat, but
Knox did not approve.
He nudged her aside, then placed
his own head upon my lap.
