They must be a courting couple,
those two brown cranes
having a heated discussion
while in flight. Let’s hope
once they’ve aired their differences,
they’ll kiss and make up.

Still in diapers
my friend’s great grandson
won’t be stopped.
His secret powers?
Determination with a dash
of cleverness, laughter,
and humorous circumnavigation.

After the sun set,
a heavy mist rushed out
to greet the ocean,
leaving us to marvel at
their meeting’s haunting beauty.
JDG
Minutes and miles
slowly pass as I travel
through several states to
share memories, stories, laughter,
and time with a dear friend
of over six decades.
JDG
Not so far from home
a rooster crows,
claiming responsibility
for the rising of the sun.
JDG
Dazzled by the sun,
that wild honeysuckle
sings out its sweet song,
inviting the Queen Anne’s Lace
and daisies to sing along.
JDG
Now that evening’s come
thunder claps as sky sheds tears
and sun disappears.
JDG
All that glitters
may not be gold,
but those fireflies
arouse memories
of friends and jars,
blinking gold lights,
warm summer nights,
JDG
Distracted by internal ramblings,
she failed to see the sunlight
glittering on the sycamore tree,
to smell the honeysuckle,
to hear the crow’s caw.
It makes you wonder
why she took that afternoon walk.
Was it just to get in her ten thousand steps?
JDG
When you get to be
a certain age, you get stuck
on memory lane.
