Sun kissed the earth this winter day,
defying clouds of keep-away,
gave loving light the final say.
At least today. At least today.

Sun kissed the earth this winter day,
defying clouds of keep-away,
gave loving light the final say.
At least today. At least today.

Late January
and this small dandelion
shows its brave colors.
JDG
In the face of violence,
he chose peace.
In the face of apathy,
he chose engagement.
In the face of greed,
he chose service.
In the face of despair,
he chose hope.
In the face of the partial,
he chose the whole.
He walked with us.
He helps us find our way.
JDG
Busy brain, why don’t
you take a break and let me
simply watch the birds?
JDG
Undaunted, the birds
line up along the porch rail,
relishing their food
as the wintry mix of snow,
sleet, and rain steadily falls.
JDG
After traveling the world
in search of magic,
who would have guessed
they’d discover
it lies within.
JDG
It takes warmth
to melt the frozen places
in and around us.
Coldness keeps us
frozen in place.
JDG
What he said
and what she heard
were vastly different
and thus the chasm
between them grew
until they reached
across the divide,
opened their hearts,
saw themselves,
and found each other.
JDG
Amidst the snow,
sleet, and freezing rain,
the fire indoors brings
warmth and comfort
to Knox, two cats, and me.
JDG
I pause to savor
today’s uneventful calm
as I do what I
can to prepare for the storm
predicted for tomorrow.
