The body knows what
it needs, but sometimes we don’t
listen til it screams.

Happy Blues are back,
lining the road, sharing their
color and sheen with
all who pass by, hoping their
daisy girlfriends will stop by.

When my apple watch
wouldn’t stop vibrating.
I tried everything I knew
to make it stop.
Finally,
I took it off
and set it aside.
When I checked later,
the vibrations had stopped.
I guess it just needed some time.

Woke up feeling bad.
Got up anyway. Made bed,
fed dog, walked dog, fed cats.
Made breakfast, ate, drove to work.
One small step and then another –
sometimes that’s all it takes to feel better.

In the morning sun
daisies dance, glad to welcome
a new day, but when
the sun’s music doesn’t play
they keep on dancing anyway.

What if all who aspire to
or hold leadership positions
took periodic, experiential,
continuing education units
in compassion and understanding?

Two trees reach out
and connect across
a man-made divide,
showing us
it can be done.

We long for
a place of safety,
a center of calm
during turbulent weather
and turbulent times.

Even the sky weeps
to see how we humans are
treating Earth’s children.
