Winter Haiku

The lingering smell

of skunk spills across the road,

defying the cold.

~

Bare limbs of winter

reach to the bluest of skies

on a sun-kissed day.

                  ~

The word has gone out –

it’s much warmer inside for

creatures one and all.

The Sun Burst Forth

After days of rain

the sun burst forth on Christmas,

filling us with light.

No Caws Barred

Those crows don’t hold

back or hem and haw. For them

life’s just one big caw.

~

When Toby dogsplained

a gentler way, I swear I

 saw them shake with glee.

~

Cats and crows on this

agree, Toby’s approach is

 a dog mystery.

Autumn Sings

pointillistic leaves

against a watercolor sky –

autumn morning glows

~

Southbound geese collide

with incoming cawing crows.

Cardinal calls the show.

Two New Haiku

Tied to these rolling

hills and bound by gratitude,

I’m set strangely free.

~~

Even in the rain

those sunflowers insist they

have the right to shine.

                                                                                                                                 JDG

New Haiku

Sunflowers beam through

days of rain, soaking up clouds’

continuous tears

~

In the night did some

stars fall, scattering their light

across morning’s ground?

The Heat Of Summer

Day lilies trumpet

summer’s heated arrival.

Pond brings promised cool.

~

Even the crows grow

silent on this summer day.

Only the bees play.

Willow’s Ways

That weeping willow’s

been in grief so long her green

tresses touch the ground.

~~

Every year they come,

those baby bunnies, and peek

from beneath her hair.

Summer Haiku

No yellow buses.

Thyme creeps over flattened stones,

fills empty spaces.

~~

Fireflies signal

night’s slow approach as children

dash for empty jars.

Floral Notes

Along the roadside

a flash of blue … Drive slowly

Flowers at play.
