It finally let go,
that last remaining fall leaf
that held on so long.

It finally let go,
that last remaining fall leaf
that held on so long.

Knox tried to take me
on a run this morning. but
I opted for a slow walk.
JDG
They’re almost eating
out of my hand,
these winged and furry creatures.
JDG
Outside in the sky
white clouds gather to welcome
the emerging sun.
JDG
Even when it seemed impossible,
that small plant found a crack
in the concrete, emerged and shared
its purple and gold beauty with the world.
JDG
Though there’s plenty of seed for all
the birds and squirrels
still bicker – an ever present flaw
in all creatures great and small.
JDG
Are you a new visitor
or have you been here all the time?
Either way, I’m glad
we finally met.
JDG
As the sun rose
we spotted diamonds glittering
in the grass and were
the richer for it.
JDG
From across the road
comes a long, beseeching howl:
“Can Knox come over and play?”
JDG
Except for some birds,
on this rainy day
the only singing that’s heard
comes from my kitchen kettle.
