No, Never Alone

My solitary walk

was not so solitaire.

The trees whispered encouragement

as crows critiqued my pace.

My knees groaned

and my right hip complained.

The voices in my head

vied for attention,

but suddenly the rising sun

stunned us into silence,

and in that shimmering light

we made our peace.
