May We Remember

May we remember

Heather Heyer

who hallowed 

the ground upon which she stood.

May we pause today

and ask ourselves

where we stand, 

what values we serve

on this planet made sacred by love.

    Hello Joan: Your poem brought sad and angry tears for Heather Heyer, the two dead state troopers and all of the people who were injured in Charlottesville on Saturday. Thank you, Louise

      Thank you, Louise. Such a tragedy can unite us and strengthen our resolve even as we experience sadness and anger. As the Rector of UVA, Frank Conner III said, “Our way forward is together.”
