When Sparrow Comes To Call

When sparrow comes to call,

 peering at us

through plates of window glass,

we take note.

Turning to books of lore,

we learn this small,

almost insignificant bird

is said to have been

the only bird present at Christ’s crucifixion,

thus becoming a symbol

of triumph after long-suffering.

His visit helps us

 find both meaning and hope.
