Evening Blues

In the gaps among the trees, blue

sky shines through. No

sun or moon is

visible, yet

the blue persists, intensifies,

as trees darken

amidst evening

sounds of shrill -voiced

frogs. The dark creeps upward rather

than descends and

slowly swallows

  what was once blue.
