There was some debate,

but in the end the moon fled,

leaving the stage to the sun.

JDG

When I casually mentioned

that dishes don’t wash themselves,

they wisely did not say

that’s what grandmothers are for.

JDG

It was warm enough

this morning that Knox and I

didn’t mind the rain.

I can’t say I danced, but Knox

did a smooth foxtrot alone.

JDG

Though the diner’s soup

was rot, my dear friend’s presence

fed my heart and soul.

JDG

Greeting

my winter friend,

the sun, I give

a welcoming shiver.

JDG

Defying the cold

and gloom, our Christmas cactus

gives a long, pink shout.

JDG

Knox and I differ

on how long we should walk in

icy cold weather.

Once outside, he cunningly

delays tending to business.

JDG

Rain competes with snow.

Who will have the final say

even they don’t know.

JDG

You don’t need to soar,

but it would help if you would

just open a door.

JDG

Once I stopped looking

for happiness,

happiness found me.
