So Many Changes

So many changes

in such a short time …

but wind still whistles

among the trees

and sunlight still shimmers

 across the pond.

Jays and squirrels

still seek dominion

and mourning doves

still gently coo.

Irises bloom and daffodils fade

and I? I watch it all,

 inside and out,

and slowly gain

 a richer understanding.

One Small Question

At the end of each day

I will ask myself,

“What’s something you noticed today?”…

Even a small sighting will do.

A Great Belonging

Tiny buttercups

dare to bloom in the midst of

those towering pines.

Both share the same cloud filled sky,

are rooted in the same dark ground.

To Coo Or Not To Coo

Don’t let that soft coo fool you;

that mourning dove

can take a stand.

She flapped a wing

at an advancing squirrel

before she flew off,

shortly to return

and peacefully share

the bird seed laden rail

 with other friends with wings.

Knotted

It’s not only we

who can tie ourselves in knots;

nature does this too.

Night Time Shenanigans

Ever wonder what the trees

are up to at night?

The day ended with green buds,

opened with bursts of white.
