I wonder if earth

A breeze so gentle

on the pond below,
yet its presence brought loving
comfort on this sun warmed day.

Pink clouds, emissaries
of the rising sun,
blushing witnesses to
the early morning goings-on
of birds, deer, Knox and I down below.

That old grey vine
has lost its green
and is now one
with that old tree.
I have become
both tree and vine –
solidly rooted,
with this land entwined.
