Vacationing with introverts,

Gently rolling waves
caress the shore.
Seagulls make their way
through softly falling rain.
It’s cold outside,
but I feel warm.
JDG
King of the pond,
the great blue heron
stands on the dock,
surveys his domain,
spots Knox,
flies away.
JDG
It makes for slow going,
this inner and outer fog
when I awoke,
but sometimes slow
is the best way to go.
JDG
On our walk today
I thanked the trees
for providing needed shade
in summer, and now in winter
letting the sun shine through.
Knox quickly joined in and barked
his thanks for their generous
offering of sticks.
JDG
There’s only one now,
but there’s a lot of thens.
They pile up like fallen leaves,
but some of them
remain ever green.
JDG
When live and let live
turns into folded ams
and lividness,
perhaps anger is
trying to keep fear at bay
JDG
I go for walks with my human
and all she does is walk.
Never does she sniff a leaf or
roll in the grass or run with sticks.
She does write poems and stuff.
I’m trying to meet her where she is,
but it doesn’t seem like much.
A pen’s a very small stick
and just not up to snuff.
Knox
Been on the planet
for eighty years today, yet
sometimes it seems I just got here.
JDG
Even the lure of sticks
is not enough
for Knox to linger
in the winter rain.
He quickly returns
to his warm bed
and DOG TV.
