The slightest rustle
of leaves reveals a small bird’s
presence as he waits
impatiently for me to
sprinkle seed on the porch rail.

The morning stillness
wraps its arm around me as
I slowly awake.
The day’s chatter will start soon,
but for now it’s not begun.

Small. white butterflies
chase each other about, then
pause to sip nectar
from the abundance of blooms
patiently awaiting them.

From across the pond
an owl asks his persistent
question, but doesn’t
wait for an answer; therefore
he’ll always be in the dark.
JDG
Land and trees beamed when
the sun made an appearances
after so many
rain filled days.
JDG
Each morning that crow
gives me answers to questions
only he would ask.
JDG
Lifting their branches
to the rain, trees call out,
“Enough already!”.
JDG
Small bird hesitates,
then joins the big birds who dine
along the porch rail.
JDG
We can always hope
though the day begins with rain,
the sun will break through.
JDG
There’s something to be learned
from that mother deer
who stopped her fawn from nursing.
Though they’re still bonded,
it’s time for the fawn
to shift its gaze from mom
and feed upon its own.
