After the sky fell,
Chicken Little looked up, sighed,
asked herself, “What’s next?”

Dogs and cats and kids,
all hungry, demanding food –
morning madness reigns

In summer morning
mist, trees await the kiss of
slowly rising sun.

Though some may see shapes
in those shifting morning clouds,
I see senryu.

Beneath the surface,
if we go deep, compassion’s
mighty river flows.

Forget or forgive?
Remember the hot stove burns,
but it bakes bread, too.
