Frayed nerves, blown fuses –

let’s pull the circuit breaker,

let the system rest.

he’s consistent: everything

about him is small.

but I don’t even know what

to be looking for.

Sweltering heat or

gloomy rain and thunderstorms –

Is this all there is?

Head cold freezes all

creative expression but

expletives abound.

When all the reasons

have been given, what remains?

Unrelenting pain.

If we’re lucky, we’ll

lose our minds and find a truth

deeper than our words.

on giving small answers to

very big questions.
