Yesterday I took

a brief break, but now I’m back

 for fitness’s sake.

Still raining, but I’m

not feeling blue ’cause to mine

own self I’ve been true.

As I exercised

Toby cocked an eye, dogsplained,

“It’s raining. Just rest.”

Without leaving home,

I find myself in a foreign 

land without a map.

Another dead end…

and a chance to turn around,

find a different way.

A clear, sunny day –

perfect in every way for

exercise and play.

Heart quickens. Thoughts stop.

I don’t know what will come next,

but I wait and trust.

Procrastinated 

a bit, then simply smiled

and got on with it.

Sometimes it’s not fun,

but I always feel better

when I’m finally done.

Perhaps soon the prose

 of exercise will become

 the poetry of motion.
