Small branches strewn over yard and road speak
of a storm now
gone. Sometimes
big winds
bring
much
noise, great
motion yet
leave only scant
signs of their very unsettling blast.

Tricksters they might really be, these ever
present crows with
whom I share
this space.
Their
caws
have come
to be a
dark delight and
their presence oddly companionable.

A natural remedy. These gentle green
hills roll back time,
ease tension,
soothe hurts,
bring
calm.
Mind stops,
heart opens,
breath deepens, as
peace comes and night settles across the land.

Money can buy food, clothing, and shelter,

They
have loved
and challenged
me, guided and
sustained me. Today I celebrate friends.

It was only natural that the birds
joined in, adding
their sweet notes
as we
sang
in
tribute
to the life
of a young man
who loved the music and the land they shared.

When the going gets rough, I look to these
stately trees, wind
rippling through
their leaves.

to resist, but
to let currents flow through me and around.

They say the planets aligned today will
bring about great
and lasting
change. It’s
too
soon
to tell.
Sometimes change
is slow to show,
but we could really use some outside help.

In one terrible and graceful swoop, he
lifted the dead
creature from
the road.
He
timed
things just
right. Nothing
interrupted
the beauty of his grim descent and flight.
