Knox romps. Now that the rain

but at the moment the sky,
though gray, is still clear. We walk.

Breeze, leaves and light put
on a sparkling show for all
who choose to attend.

Bare limbs etched against
red sky as the day comes to
a fiery end.

Rising sun, rising
mist – nature’s gentle signal
that we should rise too.

The sun strokes the trees
as we walk, Knox with his stick,
and stickless me.

Bounding deer, darting
squirrels, dog in hot pursuit,
cats watching the game…

A flash of sunlight,
cardinal’s folded red wings –
blues chased away.

Writing a poem
a day won’t keep the doctor away,
but it’s a great distraction.
