Rushing to do good,
we focus on arrival
rather than the path.

Rushing to do good,
we focus on arrival

Pink clouds float gently
in leaf strewn pond – heaven joins
earth and together they rest.

Breath well spent-
laughing,
walking,
listening,
talking,
singing the song of life.

Slight frost on fallen leaves,
scent of woodsmoke in the air,
smiling pumpkins on the porch,
kids’ mounting excitement
as they picture tomorrow’s treats …

Peach colored skies
announce the sun’s near arrival.
Knox and I walk,
hoping its visit will last.

As I get older words and I play
hide and seek nearly every day.
They’ve become so good at hiding
I’m relieved when at last they’re found.
JDG
Walking with Knox
on this drizzly fall morning,
trying to be patient
as he gives each and every leaf
a very thorough sniff.

Autumn showers us with leaves of gold,
Spring with forsythia and daffodils,
Summer with stunning sunflowers.
Winter, too, brings many gifts,
but dog pee on pristine snow
is not the gold I’m looking for.
JDG
Like plants we need both
weeding and pruning if we’re
to keep on growing.

Uneventful days
are days I’ve come to treasure
with each passing year.
