No branch swayed, no leaf
stirred as the earth held its breath
this warm spring morning

Pulling back the night,
the birds sang the moon toward home
bringing forth the sun

Winter woes remain.
Though spring has come, so has
icy rain and snow.

What? Those snow flurries
failed to close the schools this time?
– a winter wonder.

Winter wind blows cold,
chases the warmth away, leaves
behind these poems.

As thunder grumbles
five women silently write
Day creeps toward night
Summer rain pounds down
Evening darkness edges in
What becomes of them
Summer morning light
Young deer lies, stilled, eyes catching mine
Cars pass on hard road
