A gentle rain falls

on an ungentle heart.

The trees bear witness.

shimmer with laughter.

fields, a lone coyote strolls

as sun slowly sets.

Undisturbed, cows graze

in blackberry edged fields in

rainy morning mist.

Amidst Spring’s green swell,

the spill of wisteria

casts a purple spell.

Each tree ages in

its own way, but all of them

are seeking the light.

Rabbits and squirrels play

in buttercup dotted fields

after last night’s storm.

They paused in mid-air,

those two birds, and seemed to kiss

before each moved on.

Those feeding birds feed

my eyes, provide nourishment-

a soulful repast

Daffodils trumpet

golden music beneath sky’s
