That vase of yellow

daffodils lights up my day,

 brings sunrise inside.

 Lone mourning dove feasts

 beneath foggy blanket – coos

with satisfaction.

Skimming the surface

of the barely rippled pond –

shimmering sunlight.

Light rain at twilight.

Deer grazing in greying mist

and I almost home.

All in a flurry –

wind and leaves and birds and folks –

this Thanksgiving Day.

Frost covered leaves on

ground and trees – an icy shift

to a new season.

Sun waves its wand, turns

frosty mornings into warm

 afternoon delight.

Unimpressed by frost’s

cold kiss, deer gather for their

misty, morning meal.

Golden arms reaching

toward the sky, sheltering small

rabbit down below.
