alike but distinct, basking

in the noonday sun.

beacons of lively light, end

the day, welcome night.

As the day closes

we’re honored with a steam bath,

compliments of earth and rain.

Droplets from the sky

visit the welcoming pond

and they blend right in.

Dark tree branches etched

against evening’s scarlet sky –

beauty at day’s end.

A surge of yellow

pansies sweeps away the grey

from this rainy day.

Tiny bursts of green,

splashes of yellow and pink –

suggestions of Spring.

with a warm and misty kiss

foreshadowing Spring.
