He met Lolly at the dog park,
and Molly eagerly awaits
his return home.

Knox and that young deer, then,
much to my surprise,
Knox decided it was best
to leave well enough alone.

the trees to a game

Some respond,
leaf by slowly turning leaf.

Pink clouds, emissaries
of the rising sun,
blushing witnesses to
the early morning goings-on
of birds, deer, Knox and I down below.

those bachelor buttons down
and year after year
those hearty fellows return –
a lesson in resilience.
