Against a blue sky
Cardinals sit perched
on a white blossomed tree
bidding farewell to February,
welcoming the approach of Spring.

Though storms
may be on the horizon,
they’re not here now.
Let’s relish this moment
and hold space for the next.
JDG
The sun, it seemed,
gave me a wink.
“Don’t let this day’s cold
get you down.
It’s winter’s last hurrah.”
JDG
So often
we look outside
when what we’re looking for
goes unnoticed
within.
JDG
How different
it feels
to be present
without
an agenda.
JDG
Learning
to be patient
with my own impatience,
moment by
excruciating moment.
JDG
His cupcake grin
belied
he felt like
knives and needles
inside.
JDG
Trying to make sense
of the senseless,
impossible though it may be,
has never stopped
humanity.
JDG
Puzzled,
he looked around
as if to ask,
“Why do I have the bird feeder
all to myself?”
JDG
May we tread lightly
on this good earth,
responding
with kind eyes
and helping hands.
