quite a stir
among the fallen leaves.
They’re moved to
rise again and dance.

They’re squabbling over

A yellow leaf drifts

as a mourning dove
flies upward to the trees –
a moving passage.

a sorrow so well
it becomes a secret

I thought I heard the trees
whispering among themselves:
“What humans really need
is a vaccine
for stupidity.”

Looking at myself
through laughing eyes
I have to chuckle.

of human turmoil
