to aging soul –
sometimes wise, sometimes dumb
what a concoction I’ve become –
Welcome.

Wisdom:
Philosophy
of mystical nature.
Intellect rests while deep knowing
Awakes.
Janet Cook
Cardinals
and crows bring us
daily briefings and give
us a bird’s eye view of all that
is new.

Something
there is about
the birds… They lift my heart,
still my mind, and as I age, bring
me peace.

Dark dreams
jar me into
wakefulness, make me look
at what’s been hidden, give me pause,
bring light.

Escaping the grip
of tasks and schedules takes an
ingenious heart.
Seizing the day is not so

the day.

Oy vey!

found me held fast
in inertia’s firm grip.
With laughter and persistence, she
freed me.
~
~
What a
treasure laughter
is. It unlocks even
the most stubborn of hearts and sets
life free.

When all
is said and not
much can be done, we know
our Congress is once again in
session.

Worn out
but quite content,
I drape myself over
a branch and rest – nature’s limb holds
me fast
~~
These trees,
green guardians,
make space for nest and song,
hold firm when we leave home, whisper
green grace

Practice
might make perfect
but perfection’s not what
I seek. I want help in getting
back home.

Tuesdays
are like gawky
pre-teens – outgrown Mondays
but not ready for midweek or
week’s end.
