Today clouds showered us with
gifts of white. No telling what
they’ll bring us tomorrow.

Today clouds showered us with

Welcoming sunlight
after cold, rainy days.
Gratitude abounds.
JDG
The birds came flying
to the feeder this cold day.
They’ll eat and then be on their way.
JDG
No messing about,
just a quick in and out
on this rainy day.
JDG
As the days grow shorter and colder,
our walks grow shorter too,
causing Knox,
much to the cat’s dismay,
to sniff out other forms of play.
JDG
Mornings Knox and I walk
to the beat of a wordless song.
Often we’re accompanied by the sun
as the moon nods off after
a glorious night of stardom.
JDG
Cardinal and Blue jay
side by side on the porch rail.
Neither are making speeches.
Knox gazes upward,
intently watching circling hawks
as they, equally intent,
seem to be watching him.
JDG
As the birds gather
in nearby trees waiting for me
to put out their seed,
I thank them for their frequent visits
as feeding them also feeds me.
JDG
I assume that tree
wanted to be seen so it
took matters to an extreme
and lay down across our driveway.
