Knox greeted the vet
with enthusiasm, but
when he caught on to
why we’d come, he looked at me
as if to say, “this ain’t fun”.

Staring at me from the porch rail,
several birds clearly convey
they must be fed without delay.

As much as we’d like,
things are seldom black and white,
but sometimes there’s gold.
JDG
Clouds in shades of pink,
white, and gray catch sight
of themselves in the pond –
mere reflections of their lofty selves.

On a walk with Knox
waiting for something to drop
other than this rain.

With a simple wag of the tail,
Knox sends waves of love
my way and lets me know
even though I might be blue
I’m solid gold to him.

A brief stopover
was all those geese needed
before they resumed their flight.
It’s too bad they couldn’t
give their honks a rest too.
JDG
There’s no arguing
with these pets of mine.
They know exactly when
they’re supposed to dine
and if I dawdle a tiny bit
they act as though
I’ve lost my mind.
JDG
The gravel crunches
under foot as Knox and I
start our morning walk,
but he quickly leaves the road
to follow the lead of his nose.

A tiny buddha statue sits
nestled among the trees,
a small bird on his lap.
All creatures are welcome here.
